The Ghana Education Service has released a press statement commiserating with the families of the eight (8) pupils who met their untimely death while crossing from Atigagorme to attend school at Wayokope in the Sene East of the Bono East region.

The eight (8) pupils were among the twenty (20) students who were stranded at the river bank at Atigagorme while on their way to school on [Tuesday, January 2023].

According to residents who spoke to tvafricanews explained that a fisherman on his private boat decided to assist the children by carrying them cross. Unfortunately, the boat capsised and the eight got drowned.

The Director-General has tasked with the Regional and District Directors of Education to visit the families whilst preparations are ongoing to immediately provide counseling services to the schools
